An old-time, cabinet pyromorphite specimen from the famous Broken Hill Mine of Zambia. This fabulously rich and showy specimen is festooned on all sides, except one end, with striking, lustrous, apple-green to straw-yellow, radiating clusters of spindle-shaped pyromorphite crystals in a bedded gossan matrix. The striking vug, filled with larger, apple-green crystals is stunning in its prominence. Ex John Ydren Collection and comes with an old label stating that the piece dates to 1929. Broken Hill was discovered in 1902 and the first ore was mined in 1906. This superb piece dates to the open pit mining period.
