Sphene var. Titanite - twinned crystal (Cover Piece)
Austrian titanites are quite rare, and this aesthetic cyclic-twinned crystal is 2.5 cm tall and perched dramatically on matrix! The whole piece is 360-degrees, complete all around. It is hard to ask for more, but as a bonus, it is also a cover piece of the German magazine Lapis. The specimen was found in the summer of 2010, and to me is one of the more aesthetic matrix examples of a gemmy titanite that I have seen in recent years. It has one clean lock-fit repair to the matrix (that is invisible but was disclosed to me by the owner, or I would never guess). There are bigger crystals certainly, generally off matrix and worth a fortune anyways. But, this one has a nice balance to it.
