A Bisbee old-time specimen of so-called "velvet" malachite, whose massed, tiny acicular crystals arranged in a radial pattern cause it to shimmer like velvet. This large specimen is SOLID malachite. This variety of malachite is of course a lot more rare than the other forms from Bisbee - though specimens of just about any type from this most classic of American localities are now highly sought-after. This one came out of the Hauck Collection.
