This small cabinet specimen features a single perfectly formed, zoned, transparent to translucent, purple Fluorite cube perched on splendent, black-brown Sphalerite crystals. The Fluorite cube measures just a hair under 4 cm in maximum dimension and is translucent to transparent being medium purple overall, but having a distinct dark purple zone at the very exterior. It has great luster that and transparency that is slightly masked by the profuse amount of minute stepped growth features on all of the faces. The brilliantly lustrous crystals of Sphalerite abound with gemmy, orange-red, highlights that are also evident around the edges with backlighting. This is a fine combination specimen seldom seen from Elmwood in this quality as the Fluorite crystal is are not only attractive but pristine. An early numbered small cabinet specimen from the noted collection of Dr Steve Neely, who surely can be said to have built the single best suite of Elmwood minerals of all time, and has through the years sold and traded duplicates out. This, for the size range, is about as good as it gets in one of the most classic of all Elmwood styles/combinations.
