A huge, well-formed, intensely purple apatite crystal from the Mawi Pegmatite of Afghanistan. This is the largest purple apatite that I have seen from this well-known locale. The crystal has excellent luster and translucency. The apatite crystal itself, is complete all-around and is nearly pristine. The nicely complimentary muscovite books, quartz and tiny indicolite tourmalines on the backside are partially contacted, but are out of sight on the back. Weighs 50 grams.
