Rhodochrosite
The Wolf Mine in Siegerland, Germany Siegerland is noted for having produced the finest crystallized rhodochrosite specimens in Europe and for many years were considered the finest in world. The mine operated continuously from 1870 to 1925 and then sporadically until 1962. Good specimens are today quite difficult to find. This very fine and showy old-timer features rich, translucent, rose-red botryoids to about 6 mm attractively lining and filling numerous vugs in the banded limonitic and sulfide ore matrix. The primary vug is in excellent condition. Classic, old-time material from this noted locale. Ex. Russell Jones Collection.
