Chlorite Group, Garnet Group
The old labels described this as garnet in thuringhite after aprosiderite. I can find no reference to either mineralogical species, going back to the 1930's. So they must represent very old and discredited mineral species. Today we call them chlorite after garnet pseudomorphs, and they are quite rare, especially in quality and in clusters! The two crystals, the largest of which measures 4.0 cm across, are dodecahedrons. FROM THE HISTORICAL GARNET COLLECTION of SMITH COLLEGE, Northampton, Massachusetts. To me Ex.
