A jewel of the Tsumeb constellation of unique weird combination pieces, these are VERY scarce today. Often referred to as a double pseudomorph, these particular Rosasite specimens have a beauty and fascination all their own. And of those, this is one of the sharpest and most attractive I have seen. The original Azurites in this cluster were stout, well-formed, and up to 3 cm, then completely replaced by Malachite. Next, the outer layer of Malachite was uniformly and so perfectly replaced by velvety, teal Rosasite that the original striations of the Azurite are STILL preserved and visible. Remarkable fidelity, really! Later on, a few gemmy Cerussites grew on this miniature for good measure, as a bonus. Strange though it may seem, my favorite parts of the specimen are actually the contacted surfaces where you can still see the sparkly, crystalline Malachite cores inside. For both overall aesthetics and mineralogical interest, this pseudomorph specimen is outstanding. It is a rare thing and was found only in a few pockets in the distant past at Tsumeb.
