A large, 145-gram tourmaline from the Himalaya, showing a very intense and thick red cap. This is quite unusual for the mine! It could almost be mistaken for a Brazilian tourmaline. The bottom termination is also nice, and is the typical flat Himalaya style, a deep green in color. Old specimen collected prior to the 1970s. From the collection of Hubert De Monmonier (1919-2007), donated by bequest to the University of Arizona Museum to add to their displays and to provide specimens for sale to establish an endowment fund for museum operations, in perpetuity.
