A LARGE, sharp, complete all-around, orthorhombic cordierite crystal. This CLASSIC, old-time, lustrous brown crystal is from the famous finds at Richmond, New Hampshire. The back is contacted, but is not damaged, per se and part of the crystal surface has altered to pinite, a pseudomorph after silicate minerals, especially cordierite. Ex. Ed Ruggiero Collection, who purchased this fine piece from New York dealer Larry Conklin in 1976.
