Emplaced on a bit of backing matrix is a tabular, doubly terminated, lustrous and translucent, rich sky blue alkali-rich beryl crystal measuring 2 cm across. It is nicely highlighted by a smaller alkali-rich beryl crystal in front. Overall, aesthetic and dramatic, and one of our favorite thumbnail specimens in this lot. These were originally thought to be Rosterite or Vorobyevite, but further analysis by Dr. Federico Pezzotta confirmed they are alkali-rich beryls.
