Smoky quartzes are known from North Carolina, but rarely in large, "Swiss"-like gemmy crystals such as this. All the anomalies you see are internal to the crystal: the faces are clean, smooth and glassy. On the back of the crystal are platy muscovites. Ex. Richard Hauck Collections.
