Complex and modified octahedral crystals of Cuprite, to 1 cm, are replaced by bright green, almost chatoyant, Malachite, for a velvety result. The crystals are made even more vibrant by the dramatic contrast of the green against the rust-red and browns of the Goethite/iron oxide matrix. This is a sharp and attractive thumbnail from recent finds within the ancient and famous Lavrion Mining District. 2020/21 saw a definitive find of Malachite after Cuprite pseudomorphs at the Sounion Mine #6 in Lavrion.
