Almost all of the gemmy scapolite crystals from this area are a light, golden color, which makes this specimen very unusual. Even more unusual is the apparent dichroisism in which the color down the C axis is a more deeply, VIVID purple, with red highlights, than that seen on the prism faces. Good luster, and translucence add significantly to this specimen's value. I won't even show the c-axis purple here, because it would look like a salesman's trick. It is THAT intense. Complete and pristine all around!
