This is a world class matrix Villiaumite specimen from the quarries at Aris in the Khomas region of Namibia. Villiaumite is a rare sodium fluoride with the same crystal structure as Halite. Several lustrous, red-pink, isometric crystals are clustered in a vug in the matrix igneous rock and reach up to 1cm in length. Great Villiaumite crystals such as this are very difficult to obtain and are much different the cleavage fragments from Greenland and Russia. These are unique, special, and considered the best of species for their gemmy crystals. This specimen is as fine a display piece as I have seen. Ex. Shields Flynn collection, from Chris Amo before him.
