An OLD-TIME and CLASSIC specimen of bright, brassy millerite needle sprays RICHLY covering matrix on this historic specimen from the famous Louise Mine of Germany. The Louise Mine is an ancient iron mine that closed in 1930. This old-timer was in the Carl Bosch and Smithsonian Collections and includes Carl Bosch's handwritten label. Carl Bosch was a very prominent European collector who lived from 1874-1940. The Smithsonian purchased his collection in 1965, which numbered 25, 000 mineral specimens! The Bosch label number of 1601 indicates an old piece. Its rich in small crystals of high quality - he never collected junk. This dates to the late 1800s.
