Rich green malachite pseudomorphs after sharp, tabular azurite crystals form a very aesthetic upright specimen from the Tsumeb Mine. The sharp, little azurite crystals at the base by the matrix are a fine accent. The malachite then was altered to Rosasite, a much more uncommon mineral here, and so the specimen is partially altered to rosasite now, but still shows all three related species. This is a famous "double-pseudomorph" from the location. This specimen was collected by Academy curator Sam Gordon on the Fourth Vaux-Academy Expedition in 1929-30, for the Philadelphia Academy of Sciences. This is the same expedition where Sam Gordon found the incredible azurite pocket at Tsumeb. Comes with two Philadelphia Academy labels. An excellent old-time Tsumeb pseudomorph.
