Intense color saturation and "sparkle" make this large and 3-dimensional knob leap out at the viewer. It is almost completely coated with beautiful, GEMMY Smithsonite rhombs that range to about 6 mm. The curved rhombs are classic Tsumeb, with great silky luster, striated faces, and superb, rich pink color. There are a few slightly bruised spots (mostly on the back as I would display it) on this otherwise 360-degree piece, but they are insignificant and blend in context. Most cobaltian smithsonite has a waxy and not glassy luster but this, it sparkles like smithsonite of such style really does, and the eye is drawn to the sparkle immediately. There is even a coating of highly fluorescent calcite (?) that isn't even noticeable except under UV. An impressive, very attractive Smithsonite. Imposing in a case, on display!. Note the bottom is trimmed nicely so it sits flat.
