A MAMMOTH, rich and showy CRYSTALLIZED CABINET specimen of the RARE halide, cryolite, from the Type Locality - Ivigtut, Greenland. SELDOM do you see cryolite crystals, as the face of this huge cleavage is nearly covered with crystals!. These are sharp, cubic, gemmy crystals on massive matrix! Most specimens are cleavage fragments. The cryolite is colorless and has nice luster. The deposit has been long closed and most good specimens were mined prior to 1915 or so comes with an old label.
