An unusual specimen of zircon on massive quartz from the old mines in Tuxedo, North Carolina. This is one of those eastern U.S. pieces that are rarely seen with this type of sharpness and luster. The crystals, to 2.1cm on edge, have an interesting purple-brown color with as glassy a luster as a zircon could have. Minor damage to a couple of terminations but these do not detract from the uniqueness of the piece. Edna Doughty and Hauck collection labels included.
