Golden selenite from Peru, to me, sets an aesthetic masterpiece level for this species that is just so hard to beat. The combination of sharp form, brilliant luster, and golden color, makes these the "jewels" of the selenite world. I know these were once common as "dirt," so to speak, for a brief while in the early 2000's, but truly OUTSTANDING pieces like this were never available widely and were always expensive, even when sold under the table and out of sight. This is a perfect small cabinet specimen with balance, poise, color and luster. It literally glows in a cabinet, even next to far more expensive specimens of more "precious" species. I am not a species chauvinist, though, and one of my favorite things to own and sell is a specimen like this, either of a fairly common species or a rare species that you might not otherwise own, that meets all criteria for generally pricier, world class specimens which are more commonly seen in top collection.
