Lustrous and gemmy, this Rubellite is old material from the quarries in and near Penig. Nicely terminated (almost doubly), the prism faces are lustrous and striated, with the gemmy crystal having a nice raspberry color. Attractive and classic for the region. Kay noted that there is an old label accompanying the specimen, but many of those were stored apart, and we have not found it as yet (it would be a nice bonus, if and when found). Her label notes clearly the origin and location, in any case. She further notes that it was purchased from Bentley in 1979, ex Schortmann collection and thought to be from a collection named Frenzel before that.
