A very nice small cabinet size specimen of this particularly beautiful species. Cyanotrichite is a Copper Aluminum sulfate and well-crystallized specimens like this one are uncommon. It was found in the mid-1960's in the Grandview mine, which existed in the Grand Canyon. The mine is long defunct, but when specimens were being recovered, they were some of the most incredible, and brightly colored specimens from Arizona, or anywhere else for that matter. This specimen is filled with dozens upon dozens of excellent, bright blue color, acicular radiating aggregates or "sprays" of Cyanotrichite associated with dark green Brochantite, lighter green Malachite and pale blue Chalcoalumite. The needles of Cyanotrichite are very delicate, but are equally stunning to view. Ex. Richard Kosnar Collection.
