One of the strangest pseudomorphs I have seen: A first-rate pseudomorph of Epidote after Andradite from the famous Garnet location of Garnet Hill in California. The largest of the original Andradites was a substantial 4.9 cm across, and the process of replacing it by Epidote has nicely preserved the original, modified dodecahedrons. The luster is good, as is the olive green color of these pseudos. While there are a number of Epidotes, and a number of Andradites, in Mindat, there are none of these pseudos shown. This is a good indication of just how uncommon these quality pseudomorphs are. I had never seen one! Ex Scott Williams, to Kay (probably from his personal collection).
