Choice, pink Sapphire from Franklin, North Carolina. The color varies from dark pink to almost a watery yellow, and the euhedral form is very good over most of it (only contacted along the bottom). The glassy luster serves to highlight the gemminess of crystal, which is exceptional for the locality. One of the best Sapphire crystals for symmetry that I have seen from Franklin - a rarity for the quality! Obtained from Burton Jirgl in the 1960s, a real character of a dealer. The mass is 2.58 grams.
