Neudorf galenas are literally among the most treasured, rare, and desirable specimens of European history, and, therefore, of the history of mineralogy! These things are featured in textbooks from 200 years ago! Few aesthetic specimens turn up for sale today. This piece was sold to California collector, Jack Halpern, in the 1980s by his friend Ken Roberts, a dealer who specialized in aesthetics but also loved the classics - if they met his high standards. Jack has owned it ever since, nearly 40 years. It is a superb, balanced miniature, although cleanly repaired. The cluster measures 2.7 cm across at longest, and the large crystal is 2 cm tall on its own. They have excellent luster, sharp form, and no damage - this is a textbook Neudorf!
