The little-known mineral planerite forms a series with turquoise, and as you can see, looks a lot like it, but a bit on the green side rather than more bluish. Here, it coats a layer of wavellite, from the premier wavellite locality of Mauldin Mountain in Arkansas; you can see the familiar balls, which are formed of radial, acicular crystals. Ex.
