Most people would never believe this large, gemmy tourmaline could have come from the Otjua Mine. This mine is known for small crystals, small and fat usually, of more polychrome colors with hints of red in the terminations. Although dark without backlighting, it is actually a gorgeous, intense gem green hue when backlit. This makes it quite significant for a Namibian tourmaline - green ones are rare, as are gemmy ones. However, this is from a small, special pocket hit during specimen mining projects around 1990 which were financed by Gene Meieran and Wayne Thompson. Ex. Gene Meieran Collection.
