Exceptional single crystal of Ferberite from the famous Panesquira Mine locality in Portugal. The elongated, tabular crystal has smooth table faces, making it doubly-terminated, and the prism faces are smooth to striated. The metallic luster is very good, as is the gunmetal grey color. The Ferberite is decorated with several small clusters of tan-colored Siderites. Ferberite is an end-member of the Wolframite series, and is often referred to as Wolframite. Purchased in 1972 in the heyday of the production, this was from Pala Properties in California. It is a competitive level miniature with exceptional quality.
