Very well defined cinnabar crystals with excellent luster and magnificent red color are nicely concentrated on one side of the vuggy and sculptural, layered calcite matrix containing a very high percentage of cinnabar. The many veins, pods and lenses consist of very rich cinnabar and shiny droplets of native mercury. An excellent and very rich example from this classic mine, closed some years ago - and specimens now are antiques. Very high grade mercury ore here. Ex. Jean Behier Collection, a well-known French exploration geologist and collector most active in the mid-1900s.
