Found in early 2017, these "tanzanite fluorite" crystals as the Chinese called them, sold at higher than expected prices right off the bat in China. Anything like this, with a standing gemmy crystal, went for a fortune in the initial rush. I got lucky and trimmed this out of a big specimen which came later, to get one of the more aesthetic miniatures of the find. The large crystal measures 2.5 x 2.3 x 2.3 cm and is perched on a sparkling, quartz druse-covered knob of matrix. There is only damage at the junction to the matrix on the left side, as I would display it, and this is not the display face. It is extremely dramatic and you can see form the photos why this pocket will be so memorable, I think. (Note the name is to denote the coloring of the fluorite and not an actual combination of the two species here.)
