This is one of the best Tantalite-(Mn) specimens we have seen from Brazil or anywhere, for its size class and sheer impact of color! It is an impressive, large and RED Tantalite-(Mn) crystal from the Alto do Giz Pegmatite in the state of Rio Grande do Norte and has a blocky habit with a great termination. The sides of the crystal certainly reveal the intense red color and also indicate that this crystal was in parallel growth other large Tantalite-(Mn) crystals! It's a magnificent crystal and you don't have to be a rare species collector to appreciate this piece for its astounding color and commanding size - not to mention its mass at 745 grams (nearly 2 pounds weight)! This is a significant specimen, of a species rarelys seen in colorful and display-sized examples.
