Highly desired, the famous 'etched corners' are one of the most unusual and sought-after forms of Fluorite from the Elmwood Mine. This mysterious elongated growth pattern is caused by selective resorption of molecules from the edges when superheated fluids flowed through the deposit, leaving intact gem corners upon elongated stalks of etched-looking Fluorite. This small cabinet specimen is complete all around, pristine, and has a beautiful, water-clear light purple tint. The three faces of the corner are perfectly clear, and provide windows into the totally gemmy interior. This piece likely goes back to the 1970s or 1980s. The gemminess makes it beautiful to look at, but at the same time, very difficult to shoot for photos. Far better in person.
