This glassy and gemmy, cranberry-red elbaite crystal is about as deeply colored as the pink to red varieties (gem world term: rubellite) ever get. A nice accent at the top is at the flat basal termination where is there a 3.5 mm thick maroon-dark red layer. The mass is 45 grams. Comes with custom lucite base. Old material! I found this straggler sitting after 30 years in Steve Smale's closet, from his trips to Brazil to teach in Rio in the late 1980s. Comes with custom lucite base.
