A gorgeous gem sphalerite miniature of competition level: Sphalerite is one of the few sulfide minerals that can exhibit translucent to gemmy interiors, some so gemmy that they can be cut into gemstones. This specimen, on a matrix of galena, features 6 discrete, lustrous and translucent, bright yellow crystals of sphalerite, to 2 cm in length. Simply beautiful! Fine clusters on matrix such as this are quite uncommon, though a large amount came out overall a few years ago.
