This is a very aesthetic bowtie spray of elongated amethyst crystals, from the classic Mexican locale! The piece would date to the 1980s, when the late collector Hubert de Monmonier had a thing for these and bought many specimens from these finds as they were coming out. His collection went to the University of Arizona museum, and duplicates were sold in 2012-2013. Although technically a duplicate compared to a few pieces they kept, this piece is, to my eye, very elegant and completely unique amidst others I have seen. Joe Budd photos.
