This is a quite a rare U.S. quartz specimen, a polished crystal of quartz shot through with acicular stibnite and cervantite crystals, from the Trinity Mountains in Nevada. Here is what is on the back side of the old label: "Bought on Feb. 17, 1950. An exceptional example of a rare, hard-to-get item, the exact locality of which no one seems to know and which has been kept a deep secret) ." Love this description! Later it appears the question was answered (on the other side of the label - which shows the specimen to have first been in the collection of Mitch Gunnell, and then passed to a collector named Robert Roote, author of the quote above). Anyway, a fascinating specimen that even most quartz collectors probably do not have in their collections! Richard Hauck Quartz Collection specimen.
