Malachite pseudo. Azurite
A fine old BISBEE CLASSIC and a significant competition-level miniature, this excellent cluster of Malachite after Azurite is dominated by one large, very sharp pseudomorphed crystal that is 4 cm tall. What is fascinating is the fact that the Malachite pseudo is clearly and sharply zoned, as you can see in the pics. Surely this must indicate that the original Azurite had a very subtle zoning to it, undoubtedly from minor changes in chemistry as it grew. Pseudos are already very interesting, but this makes it even more so. An excellent and aesthetic specimen with great visual and mineralogical interest to it, this distinctive Malachite is from the classic and now long-closed Bisbee District. These are classics, rarely seen for sale anymore. I have been told they came out in the 1950s but am not sure when this came out - though Kay's label dates it to the 1950s, and piece #1069 in the collection.
