Here is a gorgeous dark royal blue, medium blue and sky blue, multi-hued, doubly polished slab of Shattuckite displaying asymmetric banding of the darker blue hues, and the lighter blues exhibit clusters of radial, two-dimensional, divergent sprays with subtle polygonal outlines between sprays of Shattuckite. There is a mottling of the dark royal blue "islands" within the medium blue locally. All of these colors and textures result in a beautifully colored and textured "canvas" of Shattuckite. The overall luster of the Shattuckite slab is a glossy on both sides with the differential polishing hardness of the dark and medium blue (harder areas) compared to the lighter blue areas (slightly softer) is evident in incident light. High quality display slabs like this without any cracks or repairs are nearly impossible to obtain these days. Shattuckite is a an nuncommon hydroxylated copper silicate and rare in this quality. From a small find of approximately 2010, we bought most of the material and sold it as lapidary rough, if it was damaged. This is an example of the kind of extraordinary beauty cut from those specimens at the time, and not seen since. 34.88 grams
