This is a significant Tsumeb azurite and certainly possessed of some of the largest fine crystals you are likely to see outside of a few museums. These slender, slightly curving crystals have a graceful appearance to them as they rise 7 inches in parallel. They are lustrous and colorful, not a dark blue but rather a more vibrant color that shows without the strong lighting often required of large azurites. There is admittedly some minor damage in the form of a few dings here and there, but in context it doesn't bother me. It is from the 7th Level, First Oxidation Zone areas that were reworked in the modern era. The specimen was previously in the collection of Chuck Leavitt, and from there it passed to Evan Jones where it was for many years in his Tsumeb collection. Evan sold that whole collection to the Sussmans and they have had it for a number of years themselves now, only parting with it to me this summer. Since taking these photos, I have had a custom lucite display mount made for this specimen and so it will now stand on its own and display very nicely!
