Bluecap Stak Nala Tourmaline
I was aware of only ONE pocket of bluecaps from Stak Nala, in the early 1990s (1993-4?), and NEVER among those I had seen did I see one with such a thick, intense zone at the termination. The others were narrow slices of blue, that you had to tilt "just so" to see the color. Moreover, those few tend to have the blue "line" at the basal termination. This crystal shows the blue zone on an overdeveloped prism termination, enhancing its display value to the collector and probably explaining why it is so thick (lucky for us) compared to the normal style. This one has a thick, gutbusting zone of blue that leaps out at you. It is so blue, it borders on purple. I have NEVER EVER seen anything like this from the locality, amidst literally hundreds I have personally handled. I asked a few other locals, including one who colelcted tourmalines mainly during the 80s and 90s, and he hadn't seen anything approaching this either. No tourmaline sof this style have come out of Stak Nala in some time.
