An amazing purple cap tourmaline from this new pocket: Lustrous and translucent, the bottom three-fourths of the crystal is translucent watermelon with a medium pink core and a thin light to medium green outer rim that graduates into an 8 mm, translucent to gemmy green layer that has hints of blue at the bottom of the zone and a distinct, 0.5 mm, green-blue (almost teal colored) at the top of the zone that abruptly transitions into a gorgeous magenta to purple band at the termination. A choice, colorful, stout polychrome elbaite! Sparse microchipping along crystal edges. Weight is 97 grams.
