A dramatic and very sculptural, huge schorl, complete all around, balanced by a naturally attached pedestal of quartz! This is from the Skardu road pegmatites (that are admittedly much more famous for smaller tourmalines, and tourmalines of color, making this a highly unusual locality piece as well). The quartz grew emplaced on and partially in a glassy and gemmy, colorless quartz crystal measuring 10.5 cm in length. The lustrous, black schorl crystal with unusual spiky terminations measures 16 cm in length. Dramatic! ex. Drs. Raul and Helen Madrid collection.
