This is probably the most famous locality in the world for hyalite opal (which fluoresces bright green), but the historic old mines are now closed as they lay in a military reservation. This beautiful specimen has a cup-shaped, 3-dimensional spray of opal rising from matrix. Ex. Helmut Bruckner and Dr. Max Fiebelkorn Collections.
