Purple Pulsifer Quarry apatite from Maine elicits a reverent response among serious mineral collectors. The Smithsonian's "Roebling Apatite" is considered one of the great mineral specimens in the world. This textbook, hexagonal, tabular, transparent, lustrous, purple crystal is an old specimen, having been in the Carlton Davis Thumbnail Collection. It has excellent color and glassy luster.
