This is one of a group of 3 choice specimens which came out in 2014, and were retained by a dealer who sold the larger parcel of generally larger, but less finely aesthetic, specimens. It is one of the finest examples of rutile that I have seen from the locale, though there were many of larger size. This piece features two generations of rutile: large robust reddish crystals atop an underlaying "meshwork" of intergrown, reticulated, twinned rutile needles. The large crystals are pristine and complete, save only for one termination (the left portion of the rightmost crystal as shown). In person, the symmetries are amazing. Joe Budd photos. (this specimen goes with items 1663 and 1664 as a nice suite of three).
