Two very large, 2.5 and 2.0cm crystals of Demantoid Garnet are front and center on a bit of matrix from this distinct Namibian locality. Demantoid is a beautiful gemmy green variety of Andradite Garnet and Tubissis Farm 22 produced some fine specimens in the late 1990's with crystals to an inch and rarely on matrix so this piece represents one of the better ones in terms of size AND being on matrix! Both gemmy green crystals display great luster and intricate growth interference patterns from intergrown companions that are no longer present. Specimens from this locality are difficult to obtain in this size and quality! A major miniature example of this rare varietal. Formerly in the well-known garnet collection of Bill Larson (which I bought long ago), displayed prominently for 20 years or more at his store in Fallbrook, California. This is a shocking piece, in person, very different than any other demantoid (and big!).
