Malachite is not what you think of first when you think of Mapimi, but it did produce some - though very rare in this size and richness. Here, it completely covers the side wall of a pocket in sheet-like, layered limonite matrix, forming velvety balls. This very uncommon specimen came out of the collection of Dave Stoudt. Rich primary malachites are not common from this mine.
