Titanite var. Chromian
Chromian, intense green titanite (sphene) crystals from this iron mine are among the rarest and most desirable of specimens from Russia, and today are considered classics of the late 1900s, but seldom seen. This is a single floating and complete crystal of perfection - showing a strange, untwinned crystal habit - It is truly unique, even for this locality. There is no twinning plane, as you often see. The crystal is gemmy and transparent. A tiny attachment point stands in the middle of each side, showing it grew in a stalk, in the pocket. While nobody has seen many of these, this one stands out among those we do know of. The color is unique and different from other titanite - it is more of a peridot green.
