What a simply gorgeous green Uvite from Burma with exceptional luster, not to mention something very rare for the tourmaline group from this region. This is a competition-level large thumbnail Uvite Tourmaline that measures 2 cm across with intense forest green color that is certainly translucent with nominal backlighting, and more so with intense light. The sharply formed, modified pyramidal faces exhibit exceptional luster, as do the short prism faces along the sides. There is a cluster of smaller, 5 to 6 mm Uvites at the base and three other smaller crystals on the backside, all very lustrous and they have just a slightly less intense green color resulting in optimal contrast and balance for this superlative thumbnail. It is very reminiscent of the green Uvites from Brumado, Brazil, but this has much better luster in our opinion. This beauty has a mass of 5.99 grams. From small finds of the 1990s that Bill brought to market, including hundreds of lesser thumbnails, this being the best of them. Mark Mauthner photo.
